First Monthly Breakfast at New Unit

Hearts for Emma held its first monthly breakfast in February at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital’s new infant cardiac unit. The organization provided coffee, tea, bagels, and muffins in appreciation of the medical team and to support the families currently served by the 17-bed Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Infant Cardiac Unit, the first of its kind in the United States and which will provide advanced cardiac care for infants up to three months old.

Infants with congenital heart defects often require open-heart surgery. These patients, primarily premature newborns, need not only expert surgeons able to operate on such tiny patients, but also specialized equipment and a team prepared to handle these intricate and complex challenges. The Milstein Cardiac Unit was opened in September 2017 to meet these critical needs.
